It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend; Sophia Gabriel of La Ressource, Vieux Fort who passed away on Tuesday 24th February 2026 at the age of 64 years old.
She served with dedication in the customs & Excise Department, holding the post of Senior Assistant Officer. Notably, she made history as the first female from the Department to be appointed to the positions of Assistant Customs Officer and Senior Assistant Officer. Her achievements were a source of pride and a testament to her strength, perseverance and commitment to excellence.
She was pre-deceased by her sisters Sharon and Maria Gabriel

The funeral service of our beloved Sophia Gabriel will be held on Thursday 23th April, 2026 at the Lady of Our Assumption Catholic Church, Vieux Fort at 2:00 p.m. and then her body will be laid to rest at the Michael O’Brian Private Cemetery, La Tourney.
The family is kindly asking everyone to please wear a touch of light pink.
Her body now lies at Rambally’s Funeral Parlour, La Tourney, Vieux Fort.
