A Celebration of Life: Gaspard Roy Mc Doom

My heart first beat in the land of the Pitons on February 18, 1963. My parents blessed me with the name Gaspard Roy Mc Doom, and my friends and family called me Gilroy. Malgretoute Soufriere was where I called home, a loving household with my now deceased parents, Alan Hector Mc Doom and Floretta Maximillia Mc Doom. I roamed the lush green hills and swam the warm blue waters of the Soufriere Bay.

I was one of twelve siblings in a home filled with love and laughter. My now deceased brother, Constantine Mc Doom, played the role of disciplinarian. My oldest siblings, Peter Mc Doom and Paul Mc Doom,

I missed terribly because they had migrated to Martinique. Phillip Mc Doom was my childhood role model. And Ricky Mc Doom, whom I lovingly called “Bruh”, became my closest friend and confidant.

I excitedly looked forward to my sister Joan Mc Doom’s visits from Castries as she would always come home bearing gifts. Geraldine Mc

Doom, whom I endearingly called “Sister” was a second mother to me who supported me throughout my life. She was always kind and treated me with respect. Ashley Cartier, better known as Martha, spoiled me with treats and clothes. Mary Mc Doom, a steadfast support especially in my later years, showed me unbiased love. She listened and never judged and offered sound counsel. I spent many happy days with my sister Philippa Mc Doom picking mangoes, going to the Sulphur Springs, and playing at the beach. And my sister Antonia Mc Doom was my constant playmate and partner in adventure. We created games together and spent endless summer days discovering our beautiful countryside.

My siblings blessed me with many nieces and nephews who played vital roles throughout my entire life. They offered prayers, visits, and unconditional love that supported me through every season. I am thankful to my extended family for your love, encouragement, and support over the years.

My heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at the St. Lucy’s Home for their compassion and dedicated care over the past several years; your kindness and support brought immense comfort to me and my family.

On December 14, 2024, my journey on earth came to an end as my Creator called me home, releasing me from all my burdens. My temporary repose is at the Rambally Funeral Palour in La Tourney Vieux Fort.
