As a little girl growing up at Hospital road, I felt very privileged to have my very own Big Fisherman. I called him Jus. Every afternoon a voice called out to Mel and over the fence came either some lobsters of a bunch of fish. I loved Jus very much and he loved me as if I were his daughter. Over the years i never forgot about you Jus. I went to inquire about you last year and I was told you were living with your daughter at Ciceron. I made a pronise to come and see you on my return, and now I see that you have gone on to meet our Maker. Thank you Jus for all your kindness and for being part of my wonderful chilhood memories. Some people make lasting impressions, no matter how infrequently you see them after the first encounter. Auntie Betty was like that. I first met her in the 1960s, through the late Mrs Frances Williams to whom she was related. When I returned to St. Lucia some 30 years later, I found that she had not lost her verve, although she had become rather frail.
She will live on in our memories of her.
